It seems HDFC bank staff is having an attitude towards customers that they are doing a favour to them.
Typical example is the Trivandrum fort branch, where the staff is very rude, and often demand the same document every time the customer makes a visit to the branch for business. It is better to carry several copies of PAN card as the branch is demanding the same every time the customer requests for some transaction.
Interestingly HDFC bank web site offers a 'no frills account'. But a friend of mine who went there to open one was received with sarcastic comments because it seems the staff does not make any commission for such accounts.
Moreover, the bank web site is the slowest one among all the banks in India. In spite of this, they were rated the best web enabled bank by some 'independent' review group.
In a country where corruption scams are everywhere, it can not be treated as a surprise.
But we customers, can avoid HDFCBANK. No HDFCBANK does not mean that no existence for customers. It is the other way. No customers means No existence for any business.
There are several other banks like SBT and Bankof India which are known for excellent customer service.

Of course, we should avoid giving our business to such private , new generation bank. They are squeezing the customers to get paid crores to the top level staff, like Aditya Puri getting more than 4 crores as the salary.
These Money eating banker live with our money and don't have bit of respect also towards the customer...
