When church encroach Hindu temple land

From Kottiyoor to Pandalloor, Hindu temple properties are stolen by church authorities using their financial (foreign based) and political clout. Even today, temple properties in and around Pariyaram are being encroached by a church headed by an Egyptian priest.

Will congress/Kerala congress led UDF stop these churches from stealing others properties or the so called 'Italian run' UPA stop helping these churches from pumping foreign funds to India for these illegal activities?

KCBC, any comment? Or is it that these criminal acts be justified as 'minority' rights?

Now that the Sabarimala season is full swing, the market is pretty good for incense sticks manufacturers. However some of them are using fraudulent methods to mislead the consumers.

The trick they use is to dip the edge of the sticks into a solution of nice fragrance, rest of the stick is just some low quality ash , and then sell it. The customer usually ignore the smell beyond the first few minutes.

The most fraudlent manufacturer is Koyas Supreme brand. Their products are cheaper to buy and easy to get fooled. Their trick is similar to the hotels in Malappuram which serves any meat , yet act acts as pure vegetarian hotels just to get the Sabarimala pilgrims business.

In 1816 the Travancore Darbar gave Rs. 8,000 to enable the Syrian Christians to prosecute the study of the Scriptures and in 1818 the Rani gave Rs. 20,000 through the Resident, Colonel Munro, for the support of the Syrian College at Kottayam. Next year, 1819, the Rani gave Munro’s island for the benefit of the Syrians andparticularly for the education of the boys in the Kottayam Seminary.The London Missionary Society in South Travancore also received several benefactions. In 1814 the Rani gave 88 cottahs of paddy fields at Thamarakulam andVailakulam near Cape Comorin, to the Rev. Mr. Ringletaube and his successors inoffice for the feeding of the poor and for educational purposes connected with themission. In 1818 abated the annual tax on 99 Cottahs of paddy given to the Rev.Mr. Meade and his successors in office for the same charitable purpose. The same year, 1818, there was a gift of Rs. 5,000 to Mr. Mead, with which he bought 21Cottahs of paddy fields near Vellamadum for the support of the seminary. Nextyear, 1819, the Rani gave 34 Cottahs of paddy lands adjoining Puthiner nearKalimar, to the Rev. Mr. Mead and his successors for the benefit of the mission.

But, the same Munro seiged several Hindu temple property and initiated the process of ruining Hindu temples. Not only that, Munroe went on giving huge sums from the govt funds to Christian churches with a view to forcefully convert Hindus to Christianity.

This proves that Kerala's Christian population was pro-British during the 19th century.

Every now and then KCBC (Kerala Catholic...) has been coming out with press statements regarding their minority rights. In spite of their financial and political clout, they want to grab more just be depriving other communities, mainly the Hindus.

Now they are coming out statements on Mullaperiyar dam, just because their community members are the ones who are the majority in the affected area. KCBC has nothing to say about Endosulphan tragedy because their communities members are not affected.

Jesus said:' Love thy neighbor". Jesus did not say that love your neighbour only if he is a Christian. Jesus was a pure vegetarian. Will KCBC advocate vegetarianism?

Using a religion for political clout by harassing other communities is highly unchristian. But, that's what exactly Manis and Josephs are doing for decades, with KCBC's support.

Will KCBC declare the financial funds running in to crores of rupees it is getting from western countries like Canada (a proclaimed Catholic country) to convert poor Hindus in to pseudo Christianity to develop their narrow minded sect's base in areas like Pariyaram?

Well, KCBC should learn from history of Kerala. In the 19th century their predecessors stared the massive cheating program (called religious conversion) in Kerala with the full support of British. They even opposed independence struggle, even though they jumped in to the congress boat when independence became a reality.

In spite of two centuries money power backed abusive techniques of catholic church, Kerala is not a Christian state like Canada. Because there are intelligent people in Kerala who knows that KCBC has nothing to do with Jesus Christ.

Kerala or Mappilastan?

Whenever Muslim League is in power, they seem to think that they are ruling Mappilastan.

A clear example is the way IT department is ruled by the notorious Kunhalikutty. All 'Akshaya' centres are managed by muslims only. Whenever someone from other communities applies for any post, they are refused even the primary hearing just because he/she is not a muslim.

IUML is treating Kerala as a satellite wing of the islamic Gulf countries.

When Supreme court lacks common sense

The supreme court of India has been dealing with the Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple in a casual way. It has ordered a seven member committee to take estimate of the invaluable assets of the temple, but has not given a direction not to make it public.

Everyday, we hear from the media that so many precious gold ornaments and diamonds are discovered from the centuries old, well-maintained store rooms of the temple. The members of the estimate committee are eager than anyone to address the media to announce their findings as if they are doing a extra ordinary act of courage. It is a pity that media, especially the christian run Malayala Manorama has been publishing the detailed drawings of the storage areas quietly ignoring the fact such information can be extremely dangerous once it reaches the hands of terrorists, notorious international gangs, etc.

The members of the estimate committee and the media are trying to capitalize on the very sensitive information ignoring the feelings of crores faithful Hindu community. They are trying to project themselves as the saviours of our Maha Kshetra.

It is totally degenerating to see that neither the Supreme court nor the estimate committee comprising of former judges and well known bureaucrats use their basic common sense while dealing with such sensitive findings.

CPM voted for Kunhalikutty

Scared at the prospect of BJP victories, it seems CPM local units of Kasargod and Manjeswaram have voted for the Muslim league candidates. In spite of this, number of BJP votes in both the constituencies have jumped by thousands, and the local CPM cadres are relieving themselves that they have done the right thing or a BJP victory would have caused CPM supporters leave CPM and join BJP.

It appears that this tactic CPM understanding with Muslim league lead by none other than notorious ice cream boy P K Kunhalikutty is with the full knowledge of the state committee of CPM. As a return gesture of gratitude, the Muslim league assured that they would vote for the LDF candidate in Nemom, and not for the UDF candidate. There again, BJP has secured considerable votes and reached the second position.

Suppose such behind-the-scene understanding was not approved by the CPM leadership, the UDF would have got only 69 seats. But the CPM strategy is to keep BJP out of the Kerala State assembly than keeping the fundamentalist Muslim league out of power even if that includes the notorious Kunhalikutty whose blood the veteran comrade VS was running after.

Guruvayur for VIPs only

A chairman with security staff always with him to go around. No security guards to control trouble makers trying to sneak into the long queue of ordinary devotees who also donate to the temple which is being used to pay for the lavish expenses of the elected political members of the managing committee. VIPs get special darshan and there are many always near the managers office at the eastern gopuram. These were the scenes observed on the day of Vishu kani on April 15, 2011.

What is the use of the Chairman's post? Is it just to facilitate VIP darsan for every Tom and Dick known to him? Or is it to hold public meetings on every occasion and praise his own activities in public? Or is it to invite his friend Devaswom minister Kadanappali and praise each other for favours received as was seen at the public meeting held on last years Ashtami Rohini day?

Hindu institutions are taken for merry ride by these political characters. Temple funds are used to make their life as luxurious as possible. The ordinary devotee struggles to make it to the Sree Kovil. KUCHELAS ARE NOT WELCOME IN GURUVAYUR, while Kuberas are special - thanks to the political fronts of pro-rich attitude.

The web site, http://www.guruvayurdevaswom.org/, is not updated for more than 2 years. Link to the list of festivals is not even functioning - may be another intelligent trick by the Chairman's office. Keep the ordinary devotees at dark, only VIPs are welcome.

Man of principle's men of ......

Everybody knows that A K Antony is a not a man of speed but man of principles.

When he was the CM of Kerala, he never allowed party men to interfere even in police activities. He even told the truth that minorities were getting undue preference in all aspects of life in Kerala, pushing the majority into poverty. Of course, he was the most hated man in the eyes of the powerful IUML in those days of power sharing.

The moment he was replaced by the high command, the congress workers started sleeping in the police stations, thanks to the CM of replacement OC. They also started ordering the policemen to bring coffee, tea and also wash their laundry. Several mornings saw them waking up from the police stations wearing half khadi and other half in kakki dress. OC was the CM and hence that was the local protocol! Democracy was at its peak!

Interestingly, most of those police station-based party activists were Antony's own group members. One of them even went to the extent of stealing a temple hundi from his home town Siva temple and kept in his close friend's house for days before transferring the contents to his party run co-op bank. He even secured an MP seat using his clout on Antony himself, and won seat from Malabar by a mere 800 votes margin just by hobnobbing with a fundamentalist group whose one time bitter critic was none other than AK Antony. This was, in spite of the strong opposition from Congress party cadres itself from that constituency to his candidature, but he had the simultaneous support of punyavalan Antony and the Islamic fundamental group.
May be it was not just paradoxical that A K Antony took special interest to get him the MP candidature.

Now that AK Antony is touring the state to campaign for the assembly elections, one is reminded of his own rebuke uttered at TVM airport to his the then confident OC, 'Do not always exploit me'.

Knowingly or unknowingly, A K Antony is allowing himself to be exploited by his own men. Men of the army of moral corruption!

But, A K Antony is an honourable man of principles.

Finally, VS is waking up to sleep again

He got five years to do whatever he sincerely wanted to do. But, Kerala's chief minister VS had to wait till the tail end of his ministry duration to start thinking about the ice cream case.
Now, he is blasting through all available micro phones in the state that once he gets back to power he would arrest the culprits of molestation cases.
Of course, Kerala will give him one more chance:--) He will also have a chance to analyze whether the allegations against his own son getting undeserving govt positions during the Nayanar regime using his 'outstanding' academic achievements.
Poor party comrades! All they can do is to chant inquilab zindabad and, of course, punch in the air!

HDFCBANK is Horrible bank

It seems HDFC bank staff is having an attitude towards customers that they are doing a favour to them.

Typical example is the Trivandrum fort branch, where the staff is very rude, and often demand the same document every time the customer makes a visit to the branch for business. It is better to carry several copies of PAN card as the branch is demanding the same every time the customer requests for some transaction.

Interestingly HDFC bank web site offers a 'no frills account'. But a friend of mine who went there to open one was received with sarcastic comments because it seems the staff does not make any commission for such accounts.

Moreover, the bank web site is the slowest one among all the banks in India. In spite of this, they were rated the best web enabled bank by some 'independent' review group.
In a country where corruption scams are everywhere, it can not be treated as a surprise.

But we customers, can avoid HDFCBANK. No HDFCBANK does not mean that no existence for customers. It is the other way. No customers means No existence for any business.

There are several other banks like SBT and Bankof India which are known for excellent customer service.

Sashi Tharoor is a rare phenomenon

Extending support to CVC P J Thomas, Tharoor had said that the IAS officers association in Kerala had openly supported him, "which is a very rare thing to happen".

Leaving a top UN post to play dirty politics in India, "is a very rare thing to happen".

Talking nonsense about Kashmir while on a visit to Saudi Arabia as the minister of state for external affairs, "is a very rare thing to happen".

Calling ordinary citizens of any country as cattle class while enjoying the benefits of being an elected representative, "is also a very rare thing to happen".

Marry, divorce, marry again to divorce, and again marry, "is also a rare thing to happen in India."

TOI says Muslim general to defend LoC

Whoever is responsible for this type of narrow minded reporting should be dismissed from the services of Times of India.

Religion is not and should not be the deciding factor for achievements in the armed forces or for that matter any public service department. There are instances of Muslim League misusing religion for allocating govt resources in Kerala. But it should not be construed that all capable, talented muslims are getting something which they do not deserve. The current minister of state for railways, Mr.E Ahmed has been carrying out exclusive allottment of railway retail outlets only to muslim league sponsored individuals. Examples are the outlets in Chennai central station and most railway stations in Kerala/TamilNadu.

However, hard working, talented, intelligent muslims like Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam should not be viewed from a religious narrow minded angle. Thousands of muslims gave their lives for the independance struggle. Some Muslim fundamentalist groups like Muslim League should not be allowed to generate an impression of minority complex in every aspect of life.Times of India, unfortunately, has done exactly the same by this distorted version of a routine army promotion.

Elder one of a muslim family from United Province (UP) served the Indian IAF as a wing commander in 1965, while the younger one (migrated to Pakistan) as a captain of the Pak air force. Decades later in 1998, I was a witness to their conversation in New York when the elder one retorted 'I am Indian first and last', to the younger one!

Beware of AIRTEL scams

AIRTEL is accused of cheating customers in India to the tune of crores of rupees by releasing misleading promotion messages. The last one is on internet access for mobile customers (termed NOP) which boasts of 2 months unlimted access for just 96 rupees. But they do not reveal the catch - only WAP enabled phones are able to make use of this offer! By the time the customer comes to know of this constraint, it is too late as the amount remitted is not refundable according to AIRTEL.

This is just the last of the tricks played by AIRTEL to steal customers money.
1. Airtel was the last provider to accept per second call rate. Even now they add 1 paise for every call in addition to the per second call rate. Imagine the extra amount they mobilise (must be crores everyday) by this unethical practice.

2. Their web site, AIRTEL.IN is hiding customer related basic information like APN (network access point), and other settings required for internet users. The reason is that thereby AIRTEL can expect the customers to call the customer service and talk to live representative at a cost of 50 paise per 3 minutes! That's another way to increase their corporate profit.

These are just two of the many tricks being played by AIRTEL to squeeze Indian customers pocket.

What Mr. Mittal should know is that he has to clean his home first before expanding his territory. He can learn that from the TATAS.

Anyways, we are somewhat fortunate to benefit out of the coming MNP (mobile number portability) plan within couple of months. No wonder, AIRTEL will change its policies once MNP comes in to effect.

Gandhiji and Muslim League

History says that Gandhiji had taken up the last fasting program of January, 1948, in Birla Mandir, New Delhi, for pressing the following demands.

1. India govt. should handover the 55 crores fund to Pakistan, which was one of the conditions of partition.
2. Rehabilitate Delhi's Muslim population who had lost their land and home.
3. Return the Muslim mosques which were occupied by the refugees from Pakistan.

There were 4 more demands as well, all to support the Muslim community.
No wonder, Muslim League's website, http://iuml.com carries Gandhiji's picture on the home page.

But how far that party is doing justice to other communities? Whenever they get to power (UDF), they allot unjustifiable perks to own community members, at the expense of legitimate rights of other communities. By keeping the portfolios of Education and Industry, they suffocate non-Muslim run institutions. All important positions of the Industry are given only to their own community members (qualification is irrelevant), and such beneficiaries are free to do anything as long they are willing to share the graft with the party. A typical example would be how Malabar Cements was run during last UDF rule when IUML was in charge of industry portfolio.

Coming to the friendly approach to other communities, no one need to go farther than the decades old Guruvayur - Kuttipuram railway line issue. Kuttipuram got replaced by Tirur, and again by Thirunavaya, just to try to get land for aquisition. But it seems IUML has made a firm decision to see that no Muslim land owner should allow land to be acquisitioned for the railway line because the line would be going to Guruvayur.

This is a clear example of 'secular broadmindedness' of Muslim League.
Having Gandhiji's photo on the web site is more than enough for projecting as secular.
Action can be just the opposite!

Deepika.com can't accept truth

It seems Deepika.com , the net face of Malayalam Christain newspaper Deepika, can not even accept simple facts.
Reports in the national media came out with the news of a new Hanuman statue in Simla, which is 108 feet in height. Most of those reports claimed that this new Hanuman statue is the tallest statue in the world. Till then, the statue of 'Christ the Redeemer', which measures at 98 feet and stands at an altitude of 2296 feet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was the tallest.
However, Deepika.com can not accept the fact that 108 is higher than 98!
In the report published on 5th of November, Deepika.com says the new Hanuman statue is the second tallest in the world after that of 'Christ the Redeemer' .
Religious fundamentalism forces you to close eyes towards truth. True Christians will definitely not appreciate that attitude.

Moreover, height of the statue is not the measure of the spiritual qualities! Truth will always prevail. That's spirituality in its essence. Religious fundamentalism does not absolve a minority mouthpiece from stupidity.

A Ayyappan lived and died on the streets without receiving/expecting credit for his work

In those days, there was a library in Trivandrum communist party office. I spent several days there to collect the poems written by R Sugathan in various newspapers.

I edited them. There was one Rajeevettan in Prabhat book house. Also, an artist Gopalettan (he was the artist of the drawings for the novel “Vilakku Vanagamo” in Janayugam).

I got that artist to draw, and Thirunelloor Karunakaran to write the preface for the book.

When that book titled ‘Proletarian Kavithakal’ was published, the name of the editor Ayyappan was not there in book! Nor was R Sugathan alive to see that book.

All honest people had already died. We are still alive to expect some partial legitimate gains.

Konkan ghost haunts Railway passengers

Navarathri is the busiest season for the Mookambika Temple, Kollur. To reach Kollur from Kerala, devotees travel to Mangalore by train and from there they either catch a bus to Kollur (4 hours rough ride as the road conditions are bad due to monsoon), or they can catch trains going via Konkan railway line and get off at Mookambika road station which is also known as Byndoor which is a more convenient option.

Ideally, you can walk to any railway counter in Kerala, and get a ticket issued up to Mookambika road.

But, some counter staff is reluctant to issue such tickets and they issue ticket only up to Mangalore. They reason that the Konkan railway officials do not accept through tickets to Mookambika road issued from the southern railway counters.

Some stations in Kerala issue through-tickets to Mookambika road , and some do not. It is interesting to see that the Konkan ghost is attached to only some railway stations like Calicut and north of Calicut, but not other stations south of Calicut. This is what I observed from talking to many passengers from Palghat to Kasargod travelling on the Mangalore bound mail.

Since the Minister of State of Indian Railways is also hailing from Kannur which is north of Calicut, it is quite possible that he is also afraid of the Konkan ghost!

Even though Samsung is not an India born business group, we expect some quality and sincerity in their approach to customer service. However, their marketing/service departments seems to be well-trained in cheating both prospective/existing customers.

Example: You bought a Samsung washing machine which carried a warranty of 2 years. After 3 years of modest use (1-2 washes per week of a small family of 3) , one fine day the machine refuses to start. So, you call the customer service centre in Chennai at 1800 26 68 282, and they in turn, pass the information to the regional service centre in Kerala , 098950 15863 . Here comes a technician and assesses the machine, discovers that the control panel is not good anymore.

Now comes the interesting feature of Samsung's product production planning team. It seems they do not make that model anymore, and hence no part is available. So you have the option to dump the machine and go for another new washing machine, of course at your own expense.
Whenever you are about to buy a Samsung washing machine, it may be prudent from your part to assume that Samsung production/planning/marketing teams do not expect to you use it for more than 3 years. So, be ready to buy a new washing machine once every 3 years spending at least Rs.12,000 (in today's price).

Oops! They give you another terrific option: They will give you the price after depreciation for the now-useless Samsung machine. Do they sell a machine for that price? Are you from the other paradise or what? (Excuse me, Korea is not the paradise!)

Final lesson: Just do not buy Samsung washing machine.

There are some fellows in any community trying to sell not just products but trying to make you rich! Known as Multiple Level Marketing (MLM) , these agents of so called 'too good to be true' schemes will attract you by referring personalities like the President of USA, of Russia, popular film stars, local doctors, lawyers, businessmen , etc who according to theses agents are the consumers of their products. The products will reduce your BP, cholesterol, sugar and will give you more energy, kind of excellent feeling, make you feel younger, and what not!

All you have to do is to join the company as a distributor, buy the products running in to thousands of rupees, and get others (your friends) join under you as your under level distributors. You will get a commission for every sale your under level agents make. In short time you will become very rich!

In kerala, people have too much money lying around (thanks to Gulf remittances), people are getting diabetic (thanks to simply sitting and watching TV all those serials like Purappadu, Ente ManasaPuthri, etc) and getting high BP (too much stress by relating what they see on the TV to their personal life) . The MLM companies know this, and they devise plans to get these Keralites trapped in to such schemes. ( The interesting fact is that most of these companies are headquartered outside Kerala, but number of agents in those areas are almost nil. Obviously Kerala is becoming the easy place to trap people in to these scams).

But the catch with these schemes is that the first few levels make some money (but they boast of making crores to the prospective preys) , and the secondary levels do not get even the products they paid for because the company has to get compensated for the excess cash they paid to the first level agents. In short time, no products are delivered , and the company just vanishes.

Nano Excel is one company that has stopped delivering products after collecting cash from the prospective agents. The chairman of the company has the prefix Dr with his name, so most people jump in to the conclusion that he is a medical doctor! Whether IMA allows medical doctors to promote marketing activities is something not known to the public at large. In fact IMA regulations clearly say that such medical doctors will be banned from medical practice and their license will be suspended.

K-Link is another company which boasts about their health products which are nothing but steroid stuff. Once you stop using it, you are back to square one. So, they ask you to use it forever, and end up becoming a slave of theirs spending thousands (and getting hundreds as your own commission) for products which are actually worth only few hundreds of rupees. They encourage you to buy for , say 10,000 rupees and that you will get it for 7000 rupees (you save 3000) ! But if you are intelligent you know that you will save 10,000 if you do not buy their enslaving products! They will say that the local MP uses this product, Malappuram is the biggest market for this Link products etc. Just ask them why not Ernakulam. Is it just the fact that Ernakulam is one of the most educated demographic region? Also, why don’t they market those ‘excellent' products through the regular medical shops?

-So basically, an intelligent customer is the most informed customer.
--Say no to any MLM companies like, Nano Excel, K- Link, Amway, etc.
---Their offers are too good to be true.
----Weeks and months later the company will go to docks.
-----Do not let your dreams and your friend's dreams go to docks.

So many trains were detained for the track doubling work, Passengers were held 'captive' for up to 10 hours because of improper planning by the project team.
But the railways minister from kerala was not even available to the common man just to let him know the seriousness of the issue.
But one MLA from his party claims he could talk to the minister three times on the same day, and the minister who was abroad ( what was he doing there...) was appraised of the situation.

If writer Sakharia (as he wrote in the KalaKaumudi weekly dated Jan 10, 2010) believes that breaking in to any house after dusk is a crime under IPC, well, that is not applicable to local moral police. Physically holding any one against his/her wishes is also not a crime under IPC, if done by the local moral police. If any one protests such forceful breaking in to any house by the local moral police, well, that will be a crime to be handled by the local real police.

After all, who is better qualified to be the commanders of the local moral police other than the PDP activists!

KSEB engineers association wants the project to be executed for the benefit of the consumers in Kerala.

If the project is not executed KSEB will incur significant loss because of the need to buy power from outside at the exorbitant price of Rs.16 per unit. However there is no proof for this rate. In fact, the proof says that the rate paid for import of power was only around Rs.8.00 .

As in the past, KSEB is always interested in taking care of the environmental impacts of any new project. KSEB always carry out environmental impact studies which always comes out with supporting reports favouring any new power project in Kerala.

No, KSEB engineers are not interested in the prospects of getting more promotional chances at the outset of a new project. Just interested only in providing cheaper power to the consumers.

Already KSEB staff is overloaded with the work. That's why the meter reading person could not carry few papers to be distributed to the residential consumers regarding the new deposit collection orders. In fact, each meter reading person was accompanied by another staff member just to distribute the notice of deposit collection to all consumers. As seen by all consumers, this was necessitated by the simple fact that the lone meter reading staff was already overloaded by carrying an ordinary notebook with some consumer details.

Any new project? KSEB will conduct the environmental impact study to save the environment, not to save the excess staff. Now if you ask any project having negative environmental impact, well , so far none. KSEB never expects any in future too. All projects are welcome. Also, new innovative ideas like more deposit collection steps like one year's estimated consumption dues as deposit...wow that's a great idea!

They serve you 100 ml tea, coffee and charge you for 125 ml. If you insist on the right quantity, the supplier will throw abuse. If you stand up and demand, he will oblige.

This is what I observed on a trip from Ahamedabd to Kerala on 14th of November by Okha express. I had to threaten to hold him there forever to get the right quantity for an elderly couple sitting next to me.

Breakfast/ Dinner: You are supposed to get a sealed container of drinking water which costs about Rs 3.25. The price is already included in the meals price. But they just do not serve water for breakfast and dinner. Why? It seems they do not get the supply from somewhere. But they charge you for a non-supplied item anyway.

This is happening regularly in almost every trains. Each time, they make an unaccounted profit of more than Rs.3000.00 (assuming there are at least 1000 passenger orders) per train, running into lakhs of rupees on an all India basis.

Ministers Mamta Banerjee is enjoying the privileged life in the Capital, E Ahmed is touring around enjoying the best food , and ordinary fellows are spending through their nose for something which they never get !

Well, we needed someone of the stature of Shashi Tharoor to remind us the importance of travelling by cattle class. I admit , even I have made some introspection only after the cattle class uproar came in the media. Some of the features are outstanding.

Free ride for roaches is not limited to cattle class alone. Even if you pay more to get it in to the a/c class, you can see hundreds of visitors from roach family visiting you , just to say Hi, and running away because they are too shy to stay with some one from the cattle class. This happened to me while travelling from New Delhi to Trichur by Kerala Express in a two tier A/C coach. Hundreds of roaches came to see me off at New Delhi rly station, but just disappeared when the A/C started functioning. I believe, it is nothing other than realising the status of a regular cattle class fellow which prompted even the roaches to discard me. So, I appreciate Shashi Tharoor's solidarity with us.

If you travel by cattle class, it is better to sit somewhere between the seats 15 to 65. In western countries, you are not allowed to enter any office without footwear.
But, we, Keralites are hygienic by birth. So hygienic that we think twice about wearing our footwear even before entering any office (removing footwear inside a public office can often be mistaken as a preparatory step to violence - remember Bush in Iraq).

Internet cafe's in Kerala will not allow you to enter unless you remove your footwear and keep it as far as away from the main door! This practice was started as a respect to computers when they arrived sometime during last century. But smoking beedi is not an issue while sitting in those world's smallest cubicles.

Photo studio's won't let you smile anywhere near the camera unless you remove your footwear.

So, in time, people decided to enter barefoot only any office where there is a computer.
Now comes globalization, and all those multi-national companies, like banks, insurance, etc.
Naturally dozens of shoes, slippers outside each branch. Customers usually spend more time searching for the better footwear.

Globalization means more competition among banks. So, how to attract more customers? Time for a creative idea for someone with a public sector bank branch in central Kerala. Just hang a board outside the branch "You can come inside wearing your footwear".

Well, Shashi got it wrong. They are not just Holy cows, but political holy cows. He will get more shocks in time, when he learns about the personal assets each of those cows have amassed from politics.

By the way, Shashi made the right choice in joining Indian politics. There will be more and more ripples and controversies whenever he opens his mouth/scribbles anywhere. And of course, Bill Clinton is eagerly waiting for Shashi's next book on The Art of Being a Holy Cow.
